CUC-KTM and Association of Nepal Kirat Kulung Language and Cultural Development-Ilam jointly organized a meeting of Indigenous Nationalities in Ilam on 14th December 2006 to form an alliance with the representatives of the indigenous groups - Lepcha, Limbu, Thami, Nachhiring, Kulung, Bantawa, Yamphu, Lohorung, Yolmo. In the meeting Mr. Khagendra Jabegu, Chief of SNV/Nepal-Ilam was also present. The meeting later formed into workshop and the workshop discussed extensively about their districtwise problems and identified 9 major problems such as unemployment in the district, problem of receiving citizenship, self-identification of non-listed indigenous nationalities, lack of information about district level indigenous nationalities' programmes such as - scholorship for IPs students,subsidies in agriculture products, training opportunities for skill and knowledge development, employment etc.
