An interaction on 'Constituent Assembly and Sustainable Peace' was organized by Chulchuli UNESCO Club-Kathmandu on 2nd December 2006 in Dillibazar, Kathmandu. On the occasion Advocate Ram Bahadur Thapa Magar presented a paper on the same topic. The objective of the interaction was to make aware to the Club members about Constitutent Assembly and its link to a sustainable peace. Advocate Thapa made aware to the participants that the agreement made between the government of Nepal and Nepal Communist Party (Maoist)has decieved to the marginalized and socially excluded groups- indigenous peoples, nationalities, Dalit and minorities. He made clear that even a proportional electoral system can not truely represent the spirit of the socially excluded groups in the upcoming constituent assembly if their candidates are not recommended through their own communities. He also made a recommendation to all the groups who are excluded to make a list of their leaders and to recommend to the political parties to nominate their candidate for constituent assembly. During the interaction participants were found so enthusiastic to know more about the detail process of representation in the coming constituent assembly. He quenched their thirst and made the programme more live.
