An orientation programme on UNESCO and UNESCO Clubs was organized by National Federation of UNESCO NGOs-Nepal on 4th March 2008 in Gyaneshwar, Kathmandu in the premises of the Federation. The programme was particularly organized for newly elected execuive members of the Federation to get acquainted with UNESCO and UNESCO Clubs. Advisor of the Federation, Prof. Dambar Bir Thapa delivered the lecture on the topic. He expressed that the UNESCO was established in 1945 after realizing the great human losses happened in second world war. It was envisioned for promoting peace throughout the world with UNESCO movement. Synonym of UNESCO is Peace. It encourages to bring mental revolution towards establishing, maintaining and promoting peace. So its slogan is "Since wars begin in the minds of men it is in the minds of men that the defences of peace must be constructed" On the occasion Chairperson and Joint Chairperson of the Federation, Chandra Singh Kulung and Sanjay Bir Thapa respectively were present. General Secretary, Mr. Hira Bahadur Chand and Vice Chairperson, Mr. Jhamak Bahadur Katuwal both also delivered their speech to the new members.
