Federation of Indigenous Kirat Associations-Ilam conducted 5 days long training on Proposal Writing in cooperation of Chulachuli UNESCO Club-Kathmandu from 17 - 21 March 2008 in Ilam, Nepal. 30 indigenous youths (male and female) from diverse groups of Indigenous Kirat were present on the training. It was observed the first time its kind of training to indigenous Kirat groups in Ilam.
During the training the participants learnt about the basic elements of a proposal writing such as writing Problme Statement of a felt need of society and community. Along with how to rationalize a proposal with the set up of Goal,Objectives. Similarly about Output, Activities, Action Plan, budgeting and Monitoring & Evaluation.
In addition the participants were also assigned to work on thier prime problems and prepare their own proposal. It was practical traininging and at the end they had also prepared an outline of a proposal. They have committed to work in detail on their proposal and bring into action in near future.
The participants expressed about the training that it was the first time they have participated in such proposal writing training and felt very important to convince the stakeholders and concern agencies to provide resources for the development of their society and community through writing a proper proposal.
The training was facilitated by Chandra Singh Kulung, President of Chlachuli UNESCO Club-Kathmandu.
During the training other related matters with the movement and mechanisms of Indigenous Peoples were also discussed.
In the closing ceremony the Chairperson of Yamphu Kirat Samaj, Ms. Gita Yamphu chaired the closing session. On the occasion cirtificate of the training to the participants was distributed by Chandra Singh Kulung, Facilitator and the President of Chulachuli UNESCO Club-Kathmandu. On the occasion Chairperson of Nepal Kirat Kulung Bhasa Sanskriti Utthan Sangh, Iam, Bhim Thimra addressed the session and advised to the participants to bring into practice the knowledge and skills that the participants have learnt in the training.
At the end the Chairperson of the closing ceremony Ms. Geeta Yamphu expressed that the indigenous peoples have been deprived from their riths since long time back and need to work hard for reaching to compete other community in this competent world. All indigenous should be serious on their own development and to claim their rights for better life that are recognized by Universal Human Rights.
