The First Meeting of the Newly Elected Committee

We hearty Congratulate to our Chairperson Mr.Chandra Singh Kulung on his success for being elected as a Vice-Chairperson of National Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers and Associations of Nepal(NAFUCON) by the General Assembly held on 9th June 2008 in the premises of Russian Science and Cultural Centre, Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu.

The programme was inaugurated by Honourable Minister for Peace and Reconstruction, Mr. Ramchandra Poudel. On the same occasion an orientation programme on UNESCO and UNESCO related activities were also organized for the members and representatives of UNESCO Clubs representing from different UNESCO Clubs across the country.

The programme was also addressed by Mr. Bhimlal Gurung, Assistant General Secretary of Nepal National Commission for UNESCO.

Mr.Kulung also delivered a working paper on \"The Role of UNESCO in protecting and promoting the human rights of indigenous peoples\". On the occasion another paper relating to the history of UNESCO and its development the scope in international arena was delivered by newly elected Chairperson Associate Professor Mr. Dambar Bir Thapa. Similarly Mr.Raju Pudasaini, Representative of Nepal National Commission for UNESCO (NatCom) had also presented a paper relating to the Role of NatCom in promoting peace through UNESCO activists and their organization including Assocaiate Project Network (ASPNet) in the country.

The election was conducted by Advocate for Supreme Court of nepal, Mr. Dinesh Tripathi as the Chief Election Officer for the election appointed by the former Executive Committee of the organization.
