An interaction on the Rights of Indigneous Peoples has been conducted today. The objective of the interaction was to make aware the Club's members about the rights of Indigneous Peoples and the present scenario of IP women, men and student status. Ms. Srijana Subba, Advocacy Officer of NGO-FONIN was a Resource Person for the discussion about women rights and their situation. She expressed that the necessity of other general women and indigenous women are different. She also expressed that the situation of indigenous women was higher level in socio-economic prior to Multiparty system comparing to the situation of non-indigenous women. This status has now been changed as upsided down. The main cause of this is to have significant acces of non-indienous women in the resources mobilized by the government while indigenous women did not have access in a required level. In the meantime she also made clear about the difference between 'Sex' and 'Gender'. She expressed that the sex is natural and the gender is made by society, culture that can be improved for establishing women rights. Continuing to the programme Mr. Him Nachhiring, General Secretary of Society for Indigenous Students, Central Committee as a resource person discussed about the situation of indigenous students movement and the activities done by different parties regarding indigenous peoples. Finally Mr. Tilak Chamling, Advisor of Kirat Chamling Language and Cultural Association and Editor of 'Paruhang' magazine also briefed about the movement of self-identification of different Kiraties in Nepal.
